League History

Little League® is an international volunteer organization offering baseball all over the world for over 75 years. Since its founding in 1939 by Carl Stotz, Little League has instilled leadership, character, courage and loyalty in all that participate, including the nearly 1.5 million adult volunteers. Little League can be found in more than 80 countries worldwide with more than 2.4 million children participating each year.

Painesville Little League (PLL) has been serving the community of Concord Township, Leroy Township, Painesville, Painesville Township, Grand River and Fairport Harbor since 1952.  We are a non‐profit organization consisting of approximately 400 players ranging in age from 4 to 16 years of age. PLL has approximately 36 baseball teams starting with T-ball and going through the Junior division. We also charter a Little League Challenger team for athletes with disabilities and special needs.  Our fields are located at Painesville Kiwanis Recreation Park. Little League is a volunteer organization and we rely on fundraising and sponsorship for our league expenses.

Painesville Little League Inc. was started in 1952 by Mr. Roy F. George who served as president until 1954.  The first year it was formed Painesville Little League consisted of 4 teams.

Over the years it grew to over 40 teams in 3 division, National, American and Eastern.  In 2009, the league combined to one division and is now being called Painesville Little League.

The chartered boundaries include Painesville City, Painesville Twp, Concord, Leroy, Grand River, Fairport, Perry, and Mentor.
