The 2009 Season has ended and our thoughts have turned to the 2010 Season.
While baseball for the season has ended for many, we at the board level Have
turned our thoughts to the upcoming season.
We made many memories in th '09 season one of which was a dream
come true for me. The opening ceremony in April was by far one of the best for me,
it has been a dream of mine for The Rocco Scotti to open the season for
me. I have for years used a taped version of Rocco singing the National Anthem, this year
it was done live by him in our park on Calhoun field! What a thrill for me to be able to stand next to the legendary Rocco Scotti while he sang. I hope to get him back for a repeat performance
on opening day 2010! I have researched and found some facts about Rocco,
He sang for Presidents Ford and Reagan, Rocco has, I imagine sang the anthem more than anyone in the world. Rocco once sang the anthem 6 times in one day. He has sung in stadiums in New York, Pittsburgh and Baltimore; at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio and the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. He sang at nearly every Indians game at old Municipal Stadium for over 20 years! Rocco has sung it so well the he received the Civilian Purple Heart for inspiring patriotism the his exceptional performing of the Star-Spangled Banner. I hope
to get him back again. The league this year was no longer divided, we were able to combine the
divisions into one, this was done in part to remove the stigma that we were only for the children of the city, since combining we have added the word Area to our name, we are now Painesville
Area Little League. We have 5 communities and welcome players from all of them. The season went well, we had a few bumps along the way but overall it went smooth. We welcomed new coaches and watched as a few left to pursue other interests. The board has changed a little as well, some of the familiar faces are gone and new ones take their place, they all share the
same goal as I do, to continually provide a top notch first class program for the youth of this area. 2010 will again be a year to remember as we strive to improve every year, this season we
are working with the Lake County Captains to further build our relationship and possibly even see some of our games played at Classic Park! More details will be coming on this very soon. I
need to remind everyone that the league survives on fundraising and we will be doing fundraising again this year, while the economy is not in the best shape we must fundraise in order to keep our fee structure at an affordable rate, I ask each and every one of you to help us with our
goal of making the league what you have come to expect of it. A league that is emulated by others, very few have equaled us and none have surpassed us. I am privileged to have a team that works with me daily through out the year to constantly keep the league growing and getting better each year.

As  always , I remind you all that I am always open for suggestions, comments and if you have a problem please do not hesitate to contact me.
